West Indies vs. New Zealand third test preview

The test series between the West Indies and New Zealand couldn’t be better placed going into the third and final test.

Both nations recorded comfortable victories in the first two matches, meaning Thursday’s match is a winner takes all affair.

New Zealand won by 186 runs in the first test match, with Kane Williamson hitting a beautiful hundred in the opening innings of the match.

The margin of victory would have been much greater had no. 11 Shane Shillingford not scored the second fastest test fifty in the history of international cricket with New Zealand one wicket away.

West Indies got their revenge in the second fixture, easing to a 10 wicket win, with their batting significantly improved from the first test embarrassment.

West Indies 11/8, Draw 11/5, New Zealand 21/10 all odds with Bet 365

New Zealand have shown they will fight all the way, after they took a match that should have been over in four days all the way in the previous test match.

New ZealandBJ Watling batted for 387 minutes in the second innings as he and Mark Craig denied West Indies for long periods, before eventually the hosts won.

The Kiwis’s will need to show the same character again, with West Indies slight favourites with the bookies to win a test series (against a major test playing nation) for the first time since 2012, also against New Zealand.

Back Watling to continue his good form with the bat, especially if New Zealand’s top order goes cheaply once again and he is needed to score big again.

As for the West Indian top run scorer in the match, Kraigg Braithwate scored a brilliant hundred in the second test and at 5/1 there is value in backing the opener to score big again.

The winner of the match itself is hard to call, given the consistent momentum swings in the series.

West Indies have struggled to get over the line in recent matches and series and for that reason I fancy New Zealand to stun the West Indian faithful.

At 21/10 there is value in backing Brendan McCullum’s men, especially if they can start better than they did in the second test.

Under McCullum, New Zealand’s results and performances have improved and expect them to be the series winner come Monday afternoon.
