NFL Week 6 Monday Night Football 49ers vs Rams Free Pick

I was off in my pick from yesterday’s game between the Chargers and Raiders as San Diego did get the victory .

San Francisco 49ers (3-2) @ St. Louis Rams (1-3)

Overview – The San Francisco 49ers are off to a 3-2 start this season. After dropping to 1-2 through 3 games they’ve now won their last 2 contests. Their 3 wins have come at Dallas, at home versus Philadelphia, and at home versus Kansas City. Last Sunday they were victorious 22-17 versus the Chiefs. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was 14 of 26 for 201 passing yards and 1 touchdown with no interceptions. Running back Frank Gore rushed 18 times for 107 yards. Receivers Brandon Lloyd and Anquan Boldin each finished the game with over 70 yards receiving. The 49ers defense intercepted former Niner QB Alex Smith one time in the game. Linebacker Patrick Willis led the defense with 8 tackles (combined solo and assisted). On the season Kaepernick has completed 64.7% of his passes for 1,113 yards with 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. San Francisco is 1-1 on the road so far this season. The St. Louis Rams come in to tonight’s game with a disappointing 1-3 record on the season. They came in to the season with high hopes and there were ‘experts’ talking of a possible surprise wild card berth for them. Their lone win came in week 2 at Tampa Bay as they narrowly won 19-17. Their losses have come at home versus Minnesota, at home versus Dallas, and at Philadelphia. Last Sunday they were defeated by the Eagles 34-28. They trailed 34-7 mid-way through the 3rd but then made a big rally as they scored 3 straight touchdowns. Ultimately their rally fell short. Starting quarterback (3rd on the depth chart when the season started) was 29 of 49 for 375 and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. 3rd year wide receiver Brian Quick caught 5 balls for 87 yards and 2 scores. The Rams actually had more total yards than the explosive Eagles as they out-gained them 466 to 352. On the season Davis is completing 67.8% of his passes for 1,129 yards with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. St. Louis is 0-2 at home so far this season.

Series History – Last season the 49ers were victorious in both meetings with the Rams. In week 4 the Niners won 35-11 at St. Louis and in week 13 the Niners won 23-13 in San Francisco. San Francisco is 4-1-1 in their last 6 match-ups with St. Louis.

Prediction – Tonight is a special night for the St. Louis organization as they’ll be honoring the Super Bowl 34 Champions team at halftime. The current team will also be wearing their throwback uniforms tonight (to honor that ’99 team). If that’s not motivation for this current Rams team to perform than I don’t know what is. In order to beat the 49ers they are going to have to slow down their run game and they are going to have get after Kaepernick. The team led the league in sacks last season but this season they’ll only managed one sack through the first 4 games. If the 49ers ground game gets going than this one will be over quick. But, I’m thinking the Rams finally play a full 4 quarter game tonight and get a much needed victory in the tough NFC West. (I’ll use their throwback helmets in my graphic)

Take the Rams +3 (Bet365)
