Free NBA Prediction – San Antonio Spurs @ Phoenix Suns

Even though I missed on my first NBA pick in my last entry I’m going to try again tonight with the match-up between the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns.

San Antonio Spurs (30-17) @ Phoenix Suns (12-34)

Overview – The San Antonio Spurs snapped their 4 game losing skid with a 107-96 win at Sacramento last night. It was their first win since February 11th right before the All-Star break. Point guard Tony Parker led the way with 19 points on 7 of 16 shooting in 30 minutes. He also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Small forward Kawhi Leonard scored 17 points on 7 of 14 shooting in 36 minutes. He also had 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks. Shooting guard Manu Ginobili netted 16 points on 6 of 10 shooting in 20 minutes off the bench. Power forward Tim Duncan contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. They were out-rebounded by the Kings 47-42. The Spurs were only up 2 points going to the 4th quarter but outscored their opposition 27-18 in the final period. The team is 13th in the league in scoring with 100.6 points per game. They are 9th in the league in points allowed with 97.5. They are 15-16 on the road this season. They have lost 4 of their last 5 road games. They are 8-6 versus Pacific division opponents. Tonight is the 2nd game of a back to back. They are 10-6 in the 2nd game of a back to back so far this season. Tonight is also the final game stop on a 9 game road trip. Their next game is Wednesday at home versus Sacramento. The Phoenix Suns have won 2 straight games. On Thursday they notched a 117-113 overtime home victory versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. Point guard Eric Bledose was the standout for the Suns as he scored 28 points, pulled down 13 rebounds, and dished out 9 assists. He also had 4 blocks. He was 11 of 16 from the field and 4 of 8 from the foul line in 42 minutes. Power forward Markieff Morris also had a double-double as he scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. He was 12 of 26 from the field in 44 minutes. Center Alex Len was the 3rd Suns player with a double-double as he tallied 12 points and 11 boards. He was 6 of 11 from the field in 38 minutes. The Suns outscored OKC 25-15 in the opening quarter.  The team is 3rd in the league in scoring with 106.3 points per game. They are 28th in the league in points allowed with 105.1. They are 17-12 at home this season. They are just 5-5 in their last 10 home games. They are 3-8 versus Southwest division opponents. After tonight they leave home to go on a 4 game Eastern Conference road trip. Their next game is Monday at Miami.

Series History – San Antonio and Phoenix split their first 2 meetings this season. On October 31st the Suns prevailed at home 94-89 and on January 9th the Spurs held on for a 100-95 home vixtory. After tonight the 2 teams play 1 more time this season, April 12th at San Antonio.

Prediction – The Spurs look to be really saving their energy for the playoffs this season, more so than ever before. Meanwhile the Suns are coming off an impressive overtime victory on Thursday and they now are only 1 game back of the Thunder for the 8th spot in the West. If the same Suns team that played on Thursday shows up for this one I think they’ll be able to run the Spurs old legs’ rather ragged.

Take the Suns -1.5 (Bet365)
