Champions League last eight second legs previews and tips

The Champions League quarter-final second legs start on Tuesday with a place in the last four up for grabs.

Tuesday nights matches see the home side needing to overcome first leg losses, whilst the two games on Wednesday are more evenly poised after 1-1 draws at Old Trafford and the Nou Camp.

Tuesday 8th April

Borussia Dortmund (0) vs. (3) Real Madrid

Borussia Dortmund need to better last seasons 4-1 victory over Real Madrid if they are to make the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Real Madrid cruised to a 3-0 victory at the Bernabeu and look set to get revenge for losing to the Germans last season.

Goals from Gareth Bale, Isco and Cristiano Ronaldo make Real Madrid huge favourites to make the final four, however the latter could miss the tie.

Ronaldo went off injured not long after making it three last Wednesday and missed Real’s 4-0 win at Real Sociedad and Carlo Ancelotti may opt to rest their key player.

Borussia Dortmund will welcome back Robert Lewandowski who was banned for the first leg, however they still have numerous defensive injuries.

Real Madrid are favourites to win on the night and they will look to expose Dortmund’s defensive problems.

Back Madrid to hit Borussia Dortmund on the counter attack, with Bale and Co set to ease into the semi-finals.

Best bet: Real Madrid to win – 6/5 with Bet 365

Chelsea (1) vs. (3) Paris Saint Germain

ZlatJavier Pastore’s last minute goal in France last Wednesday, has left Chelsea needing to score at least twice at Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening.

Chelsea have struggled to score goals this season, especially when key player Eden Hazard, who scored in the first leg, hasn’t found the net.

Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba haven’t been good enough for the Blues up front and Jose Mourinho would kill to have either of PSG’s strikers at the club.

One of them two Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out of the return leg, after going off injured in Paris.

Edison Cavani looks set to continue with his fellow former Napoli man Ezequiel Lavezzi, who caused Chelsea all sorts of problems last week.

It certainly will be hard for Chelsea to overcome the deficit and Pastore’s late goal could be the difference.

Back Paris Saint Germain to have enough to see their advantage through.

Best bet: Paris Saint Germain to qualify – 1/4 with Bet 365

Wednesday 9th April

Atletico Madrid (1) vs. (1) Barcelona

The two top sides in La Liga meet at the Vicente Del Calderon with the tie evenly poised after their 1-1 draw last Tuesday.

Diego Costa is injured for Atletico Madrid, meaning David Villa will lead the line against his former side.

Costa’s replacement Diego scored the opener last week and is expected to keep his place in the side.

Barcelona have their own injury problems, with Victor Valdes and Gerard Pique both out, meaning Gerardo Martino will be forced to field a far from ideal back line.

The two sides have met four times already this season, with all four matches finishing level and it will be hard to predict a winner here.

Diego Simeone’s men have been superb this campaign and I fancy them to deny Barcelona a seventh consecutive Champions League semi-final.

Best bet: Atletico Madrid to qualify – 6/5 with Bet 365

Bayern Munich (1) vs. (1) Manchester United

Manchester United weren’t expected to put up much of a fight against Bayern Munich last week, however the tie is very much alive going into the second leg.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javier Martinez are both suspended for Munich, however Dante will return after missing the match at Old Trafford.

Mario Mandzukic is expected to lead the line after coming off the bench and helping the holders equalise at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will be without both of Robin Van Persie and Juan Mata through injury and ineligibility respectively, however Wayne Rooney is expected to be fit in time.

Shinji Kagawa is likely to start after recent impressive performances, including in United’s 4-0 win at Newcastle on Saturday.

Back the holders to knock out David Moyes’s Manchester United.

Best bet: Bayern Munich -1 – 8/15 with Bet 365
