CFL – Edmonton Eskimos @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats – Saturday September 20th

There’s no true big boxing match this weekend so I’m going to once again venture in to the world of the Canadian Football League as I preview tomorrow afternoon’s Edmonton-Hamilton match-up with my prediction.

The Edmonton Eskimos bring an 8-3 record in to Saturday’s game. Last week they broke a 2 game losing streak as they were victorious at home 33-16 versus Montreal. Quarterback Mike Reilly completed 22 of 32 passes for 271 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed 7 times for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns. On the season Reilly has completed 66.4% of his passes for a total of 1,902 yards with 11 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Wide receiver Adarius Bowman has caught 75 passes for 997 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Eskimos have scored 33 or more points in 3 of their last 4 games.  The team has won 4 of the 5 road games they have played this season.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are off to a disappointing 3-7 start to their season. Last Sunday the Tiger-Cats scored an impressive 28-3 win at home versus Saskatchewan. The win was their 2nd in the last 3 games. Starting quarterback Zach Collaros was 29 of 36 for 287 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also contributed on the ground as he rushed 7 times for 49 yards. On the season Collaros has completed 69% of his throws for 1,154 yards with 6 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. The team has scored 20 or more points in 7 of their 10 games this season. Hamilton’s defense has not fared too well this season as they’ve allowed 23 or more points in 7 of their contests. Hamilton is 3-2 at home this season.

This is the 2nd and final meeting of the season between the Eskimos and Tiger-Cats. On July 4th the Eskimos were victorious at home 28-24. The 2 teams split their pair of meetings last season.

Prediction: I’m not going to claim to be an expert on CFL football but I think I know a little bit about sports betting lines and I’m surprised the Tiger-Cats are 2.5 point favorites. I realize they are the home team so they get that benefit built in but it just seems like a stretch to think they’ll pull a win out here. The Eskimos have looked pretty solid this season and I expect that to continue on Saturday afternoon.

Take the Edmonton Eskimos +2.5 (Bet365)
