My Pick

Minnesota Vikings Analysis…

The Vikings are coming off a season-opening win over the San Francisco 49ers and they will be going for their second consecutive win to start the season against the Packers. They will also be trying to take sole control of first place in the NFC North when they face the Packers.

Kirk Cousins did a great job in his debut for the Vikings, completing 20 of 36 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Minnesota’s defense also picked up where they left off last season, and picked off 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo three times, including a final minute interception that prevented the 49ers from completing their comeback.

The Vikings will need to do a better job running the ball, after finishing with 116 yards on 32 carries on Sunday. If they run the ball effectively, they will create problems for the Packers.

Green Bay Packers Analysis…

The Packers are coming off a win over the Chicago Bears in their first game, but are going into this game with a lot of concern because they needed another late comeback led by Aaron Rodgers to get past the Bears and they are also worried about their franchise start reinjuring his knee against the defense that forced him to miss significant time last season thanks to a hit by Anthony Barr, which broke Rodgers’ collarbone.

Rodgers was carted out of the game against the Bears with a knee injury, but he was able to return in the second half and help the team fight their way back from a 20-0 deficit to win the game 24-23.

This week Rodgers has been listed as questionable and fans are wondering if the team will consider sitting him for a couple of games to let the knee heal or starting him against the Vikings and taking a chance that he won‘t aggravate the injury.

With DeShone Kizer at backup, the Packers might not have a choice but to roll the dice with Rodgers after Kizer’s ineffective performance against the Bears while Rodgers was in the locker room.

Pick and Analysis…

The Packers are favored to win this game by -2.5 points. The over/under on total points scored is 46.5.

Green Bay struggled against a Bears team they should have beaten easily, and are now going up against a Vikings team that has one of the best defenses in the league and an improved offense. If Rodgers plays, he will keep them in the game for a half, but the Vikings will eventually wear the Packers down and get the win. Take Minnesota +2.5.

Play: Vikings +2.5
