2015 NFL Division Playoffs Free Picks

Wild Card weekend is behind us and boy did it ever have a wild ending.  The Dallas Cowboys came from 20-7 down in the last quarter and a half to beat the Detroit Lions 24-20 in a wild one.  The other wild card winners from last weekend include Carolina beating Arizona 27-16, Indy winning 26-10 over Cincy and Baltimore winning 30-17 on the road in Pittsburgh.

It’s pretty much the divisional playoff match ups that were expected.  Now it’s time to figure out which teams will be advancing to the Championship games.

All of the odds I’m using in these picks are from Bet365.com:

Baltimore +7 (-120) @ New England -7 (+100)

PatriotsThe Patriots finished up their season with a loss to the Bills at home in week 17 and only beat the Jets by a point in their week 16 game.  That said they had the division all wrapped up before these games and really already also had one of the top 2 records in the AFC to secure their bye to this game.  That said it’s always nice to finish the season on a high note.  They are now playing a Baltimore Ravens team that won the Super Bowl two years ago behind Joe Flacco who also looked very good in their Wild Card game.

Even with the poor end to the season I like the Patriots in this game.  They are a complete team from top to bottom and should be able to handle the Ravens at home.  The Pats are 7-1 at home this season and the Ravens are only 4-4 on the road.  Add in the fact that the Patriots have made the Conference Championship in each of the past 3 seasons and you see this team has the experience to get the job done.

Play: Patriots -7

Carolina Panthers +10.5 (-110) @ Seattle Seahawks -10.5 (-110)

Carolina Panthers LogoThe Panthers are massive underdogs in this game.  You don’t often see a playoff game where a team is a double digit favourite.  I’m on the Panthers in this one.  They may have a losing record, but they’ve now won must-win games in a row and their defense is on point.  Yes, the Seahawks have won 6 straight and look to be back to good form, but winning by 11 points against a very strong defense is still very difficult.

Play: Panthers +10.5

Dallas Cowboys +6 (-110) @ Green Bay Packers -6 (-110)

The Cowboys come back was great TV and a great story last week, but that has now come to an end with Dallas travelling to Green Bay to play Aaron Rodgers and company.  I see Rodgers as the best QB in the league and the team has been able to dominate on offense this year, while still being strong defensively.  Tony Romo will have to play the game of his life to keep up with Rodgers in this one and I just don’t see it happening.

Play: Packers -6

Indianapolis Colts +7 (-115) @ Denver Broncos -7 (-105)

Indianapolis ColtsPeyton is back in the playoffs against his old team.  I see this as a great opportunity for Luck to really establish himself as an elite quarterback in the league by out dueling Peyton in this match up.  The Colts won their Wild Card game last year as well, just to lose to the Pats, but this year I see them doing some damage to this Broncos team.  I’m calling an upset here.

Play: Colts +7
